Victoria Plum

This is the end of my trilogy of..a perfect mattress.  Please read this before you move on.

I chose an organic bed, not a pocket sprung, not a memory foam, and not a coil mattress.  Memory foam beds, like the ones from Tempur, felt like it would get very hot during my sleep.  I didn't like the weird sensation of sinking into something squidgy.  I also found it difficult to settle into a different position and instead I found myself rolling back into the memorised shape of my previous position.  See what I mean?

What is wrong, then, with sprung or coil mattresses?  They have metal in the mattresses, and you really don't want that.  Why?  Electromagnetic wave in the atmosphere gets collected in the metal coils in mattresses, a bit like an aerial, through our bodies.  Bear with me if I sound a bit idiosyncratic, but do you want more electromagnetic radiation even while sleeping?  This could clog up your blood flow and affect your nervous and cardiovascular system.  I've even read a report by NASA!  For the same reason I don't use a microwave oven.

It's not like I want to live in some sort of Amish way.  It's rather more like people choosing organic food.  You really don't know if there is any difference at all, but you believe there is and this is why people choose organic food.

So what is an organic bed?  It's made from 100% natural latex, i.e. rubber, and mine is wrapped in organic merino wool and covered with organic cotton.  This is completely free of dust mites and other microorganisms.  It distributes your weight evenly.  See blow.

The image on the left is on a latex mattress and the one on the right is on a conventional sprung mattress.  You can see that the red bits are probably the area you would have pain in the morning.  The same thing happens when you lie on your side.  Where did I buy my mattress?  In here.  It's not cheap but not horrendously expensive like some 'handmade' ones.  It also does not emit dioxin even if the it's burnt after many years' of use.  It's eco-friendly.

No recipe today.  I just took a picture of Victoria Plums.  The name is so English.  This fruit is in season now and they are juicy and sweet :)  I make cakes, tarts, and compote with them.
