Peach, Mozzarella, and Parma Ham Salad

I'm glad July is out of the way. There wasn't a lot of cheerful news, and the weather didn't know exactly what it wanted to do (in London). Mr. Murdoch, Norway, Miss Winehouse, rain and sun every hour... I read lots of different opinions on all of these 'incidents' on the papers and my Facebook page. I have my opinion on these things, but I decided not to comment on anything. I posted some comments at the start but I deleted them on second thoughts (which I do quite often...).

I realise that it's quite an unscientific way of looking at it, but I have a feeling that the more attention and thoughts you focus on these negative things in the media (or in life in general) the more power and energy you are giving to them. And I know that I sound weird to some people, but what I mean 'energy' here is something abstract and mental. Then these horrid things, having gained more attention and energy, would increase and grow in their frequency and scale.

What if the media covers nothing but jolly, amazing, funny, or delightful things - like someone's achievement, amazing discovery in nature, awe-inspiring technology, or some silly and funny blunder people make? Some uplifting life stories, mind-blowing experiences, adventure, or anything fascinating... It wouldn't sell, would it? It probably won't be regarded as news. Why? It's because people (including myself) curiously love nasty things - not always but often enough to get the current style of media to go on.

It's quite warm today in London, and I'd rather not cook some elaborate food. This salad is one of the delicious recipe ideas from Jamie Oliver. It's not a recipe, really. Just assemble some nice and interesting salad leaves, ripped buffalo mozzarella, very ripe peaches, with some slices of meltingly soft Prosciutto dressed with olive oil and seasoned with salt and pepper :)
